Martyn Thompson has been the Professional at Parkstone since 2001. Since turning professional in 1994 Martyn has become established as one of the South West’s leading golfers. He has been the PGA Western Region Champion on three occasions and was Captain of the West Region PGA in 2002. The highlights of his playing career were competing in all four rounds of The Open at St Andrews in 1995 and at Carnoustie in 1999. In 2003 he won Europe’s major Pro Am, the Lombard Trophy, with Parkstone member Andy Boyd as his partner.
James Baldwin, Senior Assistant, played off plus 1 as an amateur and won the Dorset County Championship in 1997. Since turning pro in 1999 James has built up a good reputation as a coach and competes regularly in West Region tournaments and pro-am events.
Marcus Urbye turned pro in 2004, having been a member of Parkstone for many years, playing regularly in the Club’s scratch teams. Early in his golf career Marcus won two Sussex Junior Championships before moving to the Poole area and subsequently represented Dorset in the County Championships.
